About Yi Xiao Chen
Yi Xiao Chen’s style is minimalist portraiture. She tries to convey the diversity and individuality of her subject matter with simple shapes and colors. She is drawn to architectural forms of light and darkness and the sculptural quality of light on human forms. Her figures are featureless and reductive, however character and emotion is conveyed with pools of light and darkness, featured prominently in this series.
