About Louis Philippe Crepin

Louis Philippe Crepin (1772-1851) was a French painter who created highly detailed landscapes and figure paintings. Crepin is best known for his large-scale paintings of naval battles, and the Minister of Defense in France gave him the title of Peintres de la Marine (Painter of the Fleet). Before this, he worked as a sailor and seaman who was in charge of the sails. You can find Crepin’s work in private collections and the Musée National de La Marine in Paris.
