Inspired By Henri Matisse

French painter Henri Matisse was one of the leaders of the Fauvist movement which was characterized by painterly brushstrokes and intense color. The art in this collection includes paintings by a few of Matisse's contemporaries such as Ernst Kirchner and August Macke. It also includes pieces from artist today who were inspired by Matisse's vivid paintings and the cut paper collages that he created later in his career.
