Body musculature. Historical artwork of the muscles of the body. Some of the outer layers of muscles have been removed to expose deeper layers. The position of this body is based on a Greek statue called the Borghese Gladiator. This and other anatomical artworks by Jean Bosq (1770- 1813) based on the statue were published in 1812 in a work titled Anatomie du Gladiateur Combatant by Jean-Galbert Salvage.
