About the Artwork
Concentrating Solar Power Plant - Item # 2959343
Concentrating solar power plant. Heliostat (mirrors with sun-tracking motion) arrays and receiver tower at a concentrating solar power (CSP) plant. CSP plants use heliostats to reflect sunlight and concentrate it on to a central receiver mounted at the top of a tower. The concentrated solar energy is then used to produce electrical power. Here it boils water in the receiver to produce steam, which is piped to a steam turbine generator to convert the energy to electricity. The steam from the turbine is then condensed and pressurized back into the receiver. Photographed near Ivanpah, Mojave Desert, California, USA.
