Jacob was born in the city of Gouda in the Netherlands. When he was twelve, his father gave him his first camera. He is a self-taught fine art photographer, with extensive experience in analog photography, developing and printing in his own darkroom, as well as working with digital cameras. Using the colors that natural light provides, his camera his only tool, Jacob describes his style as abstract realism and impressionistic. Jacob now lives in Jutland, Denmark. The special Nordic lights and colors in this coastal area are his inspiration. The North Sea and the nature preserve, National Park Thy, are his muses.
