<p>Gemini North telescope dome on the summit of Mauna Kea, Hawaii, USA. This 8-metre optical/infrared telescope was completed in 1999. Gemini North's twin telescope, Gemini South is located in Cerro Pachon, Chile. Together, the two telescopes give coverage of virtually the entire night sky. The Canada-France-Hawaii telescope (CFHT) is seen in the background. The Milky Way, a band of stars in the night sky that is a view of our own spiral galaxy from the inside, is at top left.</p>
