Wassily Kandinsky

Wassily Kandinsky was a Russian painter and art theorist who is heavily credited as one of the founding fathers of abstraction and expressionism in Western art.

His works are evocative and provocative and are often noted as having transformed through three phases; his early works were representational canvases of divine symbolism, transforming into operatic and rapturous compositions, and rounding out to biomorphic and geometric flat planes of color in his later years.

Viewing himself as a prophet of sorts, Kandinsky felt his mission here on Earth was to share his ideals of human emotions and ideas with the world to help better society.

Transformative and Transcendental

Creating a universal sense of spirituality through his works, Kandinsky's ideas and artwork inspired generations upon generations of artists. Coyly playing with the relationships between color and form, Kandinsky set out and successfully created an aesthetically pleasing experience for the public that played with their sight, their sound, and their emotions.

He had the belief that abstraction and only total abstraction would offer the viewer transcendental and profound expression and that following painters from eras past and copying nature would only interfere with that process.

The man felt his works were the ideal visual mode to express his "inner necessity" and conveyed, overall, the universal truth of human emotions and ideas.

Kandinsky: Simply Incandescent

Wassily Kandinsky wall art can now be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home and your own space, thanks to Great Big Canvas

Works such as Squares with Concentric Circles, Composition No.7, Gelb-rot-blau, and the Small Worlds series can be taken now from the walls of some of the world's finest art institutions and displayed in your living room, bedrooms, office spaces, and waiting rooms to be enjoyed for years to come.

The bold splashes of color, unique and often haunting abstract shapes, and joyous distortions can reside within your home or office with your own Wassily Kandinsky wall décor.

Having Wassily Kandinsky wall art, thanks to the beautiful reproductions created by Great Big Canvas, can now be transformed from a dream to a reality.
