<p>Keping Shan thrust belt, satellite image. The Keping Shan thrust belt lies just south of the Tien Shan mountains, Xinjiang province, China. It includes examples of breaks and offsets in the rock layers, called faults. The different colours indicate rocks that formed at different times and in different environments. Image data obtained by the Landsat 8 satellite on 30 July 2013.</p>
