Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Potato psyllid adult (Paratrioza cockerelli). It is also known as Bactericera cockerelli. Immature nymph stages suck on the juices of plant tissues producing toxic effects on plant growth. This species occurs mainly on field grown potato and field or greenhouse grown tomato crops, but also attacks eggplant, pepper and tomatillo. Adults, also called the jumping plant louse, resemble tiny cicadas. They jump and fly quickly when disturbed. Magnification: x7 when shortest axis printed at 25 millimetres.
