<p>July 11, 1938 - SB2U-1 Vindicator aircraft of the U.S. Navy conducting a sortie in close proximity to Mount Whitney, Sierra Nevada Range. The carrier based aircraft was a dive-bomber developed for the U.S. Navy during the 1930's but had become obsolete by the time the Second World War had started.</p>
