Sigmund Freud, Austrian psychiatrist

Item # 2584149

<p>Portrait of the Austrian psychiatrist Sigmund Freud (1856-1939). Freud, together with other neurologists, established the study of psychiatry as a separate medical discipline. He believed that the human mind contains conscious and unconscious levels. In the latter, painful memories, wishes and desires of which a person is ashamed are stored and kept repressed.
