<p>"Spring Branding" is a watercolor of cattle being branded during a spring roundup in California. The artist told me that this painting, and "Splitting the herd" were from a real california round up. It measures 30" X 23". It is undated, but the date may be similiar to the l981 date of the other paintings in this series. LaVere Hutchings spent much of his time in Idaho before moving to Los Angeles, then on to Jamestown California where he painted until his death in l999. He is a member of the National Watercolor Society, and author of several books, including "Make your watercolors sing" by Northlight..</p>
