With a power potential of 581,500 kilowatts, seven steam turbines in various states of assembly are seen ready for testing at Westinghouse Electric Corporation's Sunnyvale division here Dec.23rd. It marked the first time that so many big power-producing turbines had been on the test stand simultaneously. If operated continuously, the big turbines and attached generators could produce more than five billion kilowatt-hours of electric power annually, enough to supply the needs of 1,700,000 average American homes. The machines are destined for companies in Louisiana, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, Hawaii, and Formosa.
