Born in Poland in 1925, Jerzy Marek served in the British Army in Italy during World War II and came to live in London in 1948. Entirely self taught, he started to paint in oils in 1970. Initially Marek painted sporting themes but later these were replaced by pastoral themes of a tranquil nature. His images often feature cats; both wild and domestic.
