Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses Dig. Pit number one. Xi'an, Shaanxi Province..CHINA.This is one of the greatest archeological sites in China. This is the site of Emperor Qin Shihuangdi's burial site, which he commissioned when he became ruler at the age of 13. The Terra cotta site is made up of three distinct dig 'pits'. Number one and the largest containing over 6,000 warriors and horses of which approximately 1200 figures have been fully or partially restored. Pit number two represents what is believed to be a Qin period military encampment. Pit number 3 is the smallest and is believed to represent the army's strategic headquarters and central field command. This pit is the best preserved.
