Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio (1571 - 1610) was a controversial and influential Italian artist. Throughout his lifetime in the 17th century, Caravaggio lived in multiple cities around Italy where he practiced his craft. His short-lived career still allowed him time to create a stunning body of work.
